Isolation strain: Families turning up unannounced

With an already high number of COVID-19-positive children at isolation facilities, health officials now have another problem on their hands.

Children who have not tested positive for the virus have also been turning up at the centres with their relatives, and this is putting additional pressure on authorities to find accommodation for them.

As a result, the Ministry of Health will be meeting with the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs today to come up with a solution to deal with this unexpected situation.

Minister of Health Jeffrey Bostic reported at a press conference yesterday evening that this occurred last weekend at the Blackman and Gollop isolation facility, where a female posted a video complaining about lack of beds and showing two people lying on the pavement.
