The Cabinet announced that the Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA), the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board (ABTB), The Department of Tourism, and the law enforcement agencies at the V.C. Bird International Airport will vigorously pursue those who are engaged in using “A” Plates for commercial transport of visiting tourists. To This end, those who wish to use limousines and other luxury cars to engage in picking-up arriving and departing passengers are being instructed to get “L” plates. The insurance coverage which “A” plates allow would not include harm to victims or property should those vehicles have accidents.

The recent Cabinet notes warned those engaged in the practice to cease and desist from the illegal practice, and to procure the correct registration and insurance coverage.
