High-Density Plastic Bag Extension To End Soon

All Businesses who received an extension on their branded high-density shopping plastic bags are reminded that the extension ends on December 31st, 2018.

Environment Management Officer within the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Indira James-Henry wishes to advise the businesses that as of December 31, 2018, total use, sale and distribution are absolutely prohibited.

James-Henry indicated that no additional extension will be given and advises that the appropriate reusable bags and paper bags should be issues to customers.

Anyone who is caught not adhering to these stipulations will be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law.

A reminder is also being given to importers of eggs that the eggs must not be brought into the country in Styrofoam egg trays or they too will be confiscated.

Quite a number of plastic plates, utensils including forks, spoons, knives and straws as well as polystyrene continue to be confiscated by the Ministry on a monthly basis.
