Antigua and Barbuda has been given to green light to proceed with the establishment of the Fourth Landed campus of the University of the West Indies at Five islands.
This was disclosed offically during a news conference today, by the Vice Chancellor of the UWI Sir Hillary Beckles.
Doctor Beckles indicated that when the campus opens in September of this year, it will have a a population of eight hundred students.
He said that the courses to be offered in the first instance will be in the areas of teacher training,nursing and hospitality.
Doctor Beckles said that the government of Antigua and Barbuda has identified that these skills are urgently needed in the country.
The UWI Vice Chancellor also disclosed that he has recommended to Prime Minister Gaston Browne to hold a thanksgiving church service on the achievement of the Fourth Landed Campus of the UWI in Antigua and Barbuda.
