Efforts Being Implemented to Improve Beaches

Vendors operating on beaches across the country, have until the end of the business day today, to remove all derelict and unsightly buildings erected in areas in which they are licensed to operate.

The notice also targets beach vendors who are being asked,  to discontinue the practice of leaving their chairs stacked on the beaches overnight.

The Ministry of Tourism issued the advisory note today indicating that it is partnering with the Development Control Authority to improve the beaches across the country.

The Ministry is cautioning vendors and other  persons,  who do adhere to the notice that the said structures will be demolished by order of the Development Control Authority.

It also indicated that continuous consultations will be held with the vendors and beach operators to find solutions necessary,  to eliminate the illegal practice of erecting unsuitable structures.

The demolition practice,  will continue during  the month of June.
