CIBC FIRSTCARIBBEAN DONATES MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO MSJMC

CIBC FirstCaribbean is assisting the Mount St. John Medical Centre (MSJMC) to purchase much-needed medical supplies to be used in the care of COVID – 19 patients.

The contribution is part of a larger programme announced by the bank’s charitable arm, FirstCaribbean International ComTrust Foundation, which is donating US$250,000 across the Caribbean where the bank operates.

Salma Crump, MSJMC, Head of Marketing and Communications applauded the bank’s initiative.

“Individual action as a part of the response to COVID-19 is absolutely needed but that alone will not add up to a sufficient response. We also need coordinated action/support from businesses like CIBC-FirstCaribbean combined with multi-stakeholder cooperation at exceptional scale and speed to minimize the impact on public health and limit the potential for further disruption to our lives and our economy.”

She added, “When we say our hospital’s focus is on safety. This does not only refer to the environment, it also involves ensuring that our care teams have the medical supplies and equipment needed to support our patients. This donation assists in making this possible. We’re profoundly grateful for this generous gift.”

Meanwhile, the bank’s Country Manager, Ladesa James-Williams noted, “we are all in the war against Covid-19 and as long as we all work together we will win.”

She added that CIBC FirstCaribbean would continue to look for ways to assist clients, our government and the nation at large.

Mrs. James-Williams is also a Director of the bank’s ComTrust Foundation.

The donation follows the bank’s recent announcements of a suite of relief assistance to eligible clients including:

  • 6-month payment moratoria on existing loans and mortgages.
  • Temporary revolving or working capital financing options for our Corporate Banking and Business Banking clients.
  • A special waiver of late payment fees and default interest to all eligible Retail, Business, Banking, Corporate Investment Banking and Wealth Management Clients effective for the 6 month moratorium period for existing loans and mortgages.
  • Credit card holders automatically benefitting from a payment waiver for three (3) months based on their current account standing.
