Chinese national carrying $100,000 shot in head

A CHINESE national is clinging to life after being shot and robbed of $100,000 on Sunday.

Jinyuan Ye, 24, was shot twice in the head by a thief who grabbed a bag containing the cash.

The attack happened at around 10.30 a.m. at the Club 2000 bar at Duncan Village.

Ye was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

Police said that Ye was followed by the suspect when he went to collect the cash from the previous night’s earnings from the roulette machines.

An employee of the bar told police that he had just handed Ye the bag when a man approached Ye and fired two shot at him at close range.

As Ye collapsed, the gunman grabbed the money bag.

The employee told police he hid behind the bar. The suspect also took the DVR machine that recorded the attack on CCTV.

Officers of the San Fernando CID and Southern Division Task Force led by ASP John and Inspectors Simon and Nanan responded.

Police searched for the suspect but no one was arrested.
