Chief: Good police work curbing crime

There is no magical solution to reducing crime, just good police work.

Commissioner Tyrone Griffith said this was why the shooting incidents and murder rate in Barbados, which had been rising to alarming levels at the beginning of 2019, were on the decline.

“The efforts have been there from the inception. It is a matter of continuing to do the things we do well – in terms of investigations, in terms of making sure we conduct thorough patrols, making sure we rely on intelligence. I’m sure the policies we have are working and working well,” he said yesterday.

Griffith was speaking after the launch of new uniforms for the Tourism Patrol Unit along Hastings Rocks, Christ Church. The unit is made up of special constables.

Barbados has recorded 32 murders for the year, which had caused alarm across the country.
