Chefs in the country are to be encouraged to use more local produce in developing their menus.
This has been stated by extension officer in the Ministry of Agriculture Omawale Elabanjo.
“ we need to see our chefs using sweet potatoes and for them to start producing fries and other products which they can add to their menus,” mr elabanjo said.
The extension officer in the Antigua Ministry of Agriculture said that during the slow season a forum will be mounted to attract farmers and chefs so that the collaboration can start.
Mr Elabanjo pointed out that during the forum, the chefs will get a better understanding of what is being produced locally.
The extension officer added that this development is also part of efforts to find markets for local farmers.
