Cashing in on Cook crash

THE FALLOUT IN BARBADOS from the collapse of Thomas Cook, one of the world’s oldest travel and tour companies, will not be that heavy.

But the island has already started using the opportunity to get former Thomas Cook customers here for the upcoming winter tourist season, in the wake of the 178-year-old company’s demise.

In fact, Minister of Tourism Kerrie Symmonds was lucky enough to be on the spot as United Kingdom (UK) residents scrambled to get back home yesterday.

He was in Ireland for a Taste Of Barbados promotional event, and used the opportunity to sit down with British stakeholders.
