The strike is off.
But only for now.
General secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) Toni Moore has sent a strong warning to all employers, beginning with those at G4S Secure Solutions Barbados, who continue to renege on their obligations to their employees.
“The executive council of the Barbados Workers’ Union is prepared to escalate this matter to the highest level if needs be, to ensure that G4S, and other companies operating in the Barbadian environment, understand that the rules, principles, and practices governing industrial relations in this country must be adhered to and that justice is brought to all workers in these situations,” Moore said via a statement last night.
Her words come on the heels of frustrated security officers who staged the second protest within a week outside G4S’ Brighton, Black Rock, St Michael offices yesterday, following similar action last week.
