ACTING CHIEF Fire Officer Henderson Patrick is warning Barbadians about the hazard of buying cheap Christmas lights and ornaments, telling them “you get what you pay for”.
“One of the things we advise people at this particular point in time is to ensure any item you buy for Christmas has rigidity and body. A lot of times we buy a lot of Christmas lights and when you look at the size of the wiring, it is insignificant.
“Then we string these things together and the amount of electricity we expect to flow through these things, they just cannot bear it.
“It is always important to buy quality products because you always get what you pay for. If you buy something cheap, chances are it will not work as well as you may want. Spend a little bit more and enjoy your Christmas – let us leave grief out of it,” he cautioned.
