THE PRICE OF BANKS BEER and a range of Pine Hill Dairy (PHD) juices may soon be going up for consumers.
Retailers were hit with a price increase by Banks Holdings Ltd on Monday and said they would have to pass it on.
Some businesses declined to say whether they intended to pass the hike on to the customers.
“If something comes in to me and it goes up, I will have to increase my price to suit,” said Miss Archer, the manager at St Elmo’s Bar in Moontown, St Lucy.
She was among a host of proprietors who maintained that the hard truth was that Barbadians would have to pay more for their cold ones. The new price of a case of Banks beer (24 x 275 ml) is $49.72 (large retail, wholesale, off premises). Including the deposit would bring the cost to $55.72, an increase from $45.47 and $51.47, respectively. (SDB Media)
