The occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused displacement and disturbance in the socioeconomic landscape across the world and Antigua and Barbuda is no exception. The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) in partnership with the Antigua Power Company (APC) recognizes the need to offer a further concession on the provision of electricity service to domestic customers. In light of this, an additional five (5) percent reduction will be applied on electricity accounts. This brings the total utility relief discount to twenty-five (25) percent.
This additional discount will be effective immediately and applied to June’s bills and will continue for three (3) months. Domestic electricity accounts will continue to benefit from an automatic 10% reduction on fuel variation plus 15% for bills paid in full anytime within the following month.
In a statement released on March 27th, 2020, APUA announced the suspension of disconnections for water and electricity accounts. This relief effort has been extended for an additional three (3) months ending in September.
Customers are encouraged to continue servicing their accounts and avoid accumulating account balances to an unmanageable amount that may result in future interruption of services due to non- payment.
