‘Apologies to anyone I’ve let down’: Ed Sheeran reveals he has tested positive for Covid-19 and is cancelling all upcoming in-person events less than a week before new album release

ED Sheeran has revealed he has tested positive for Covid-19 and has cancelled all upcoming in-person commitments less than a week before his new album release on October 29.

The singer, 30, took to Instagram and released a statement saying he is currently self-isolating and will do as many virtual interviews and performances as he can.

He wrote: ‘Hey guys. Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines.

‘It means that I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house. Apologies to anyone I’ve let down. Be safe everyone x’.

Ed was inundated with well wishes from his followers with one writing: ‘Get well soon,’ while another wrote: ‘Hope you’re OK’.

Ed is scheduled to join Apple Music’s Zane Lowe for an interview next week along with sharing some new songs from his upcoming fourth album.

His new record = (prounounced ‘equals’) will be released on Friday October 29.

It comes after Ed was spotted watching his wife Cherry Seaborn play hockey alongside her Harleston Magpies teammates in the namesake Suffolk town on Saturday.

The singer kept out of the pouring rain from the comfort of his plush blue Bentley Bentayga, which sells for a whopping £200k.

Proving himself to be the devoted husband, the Shivers singer, who is worth an estimated £200m, watched on in-awe as the ladies stormed to victory against Trojans from Southampton.

He could be seen looking on in glee as Cherry took a penalty and scored a goal just in front of him, helping her team to win 3-0.
