There were no additional COVID-19 deaths recorded yesterday in Trinidad and Tobago, but the Ministry of Health has confirmed eight new cases of the virus in its daily update.
However, it notes this does not represent an increase over the past 24 hours as it included the results of samples taken between October 22 and 24.
This brings the total number of people infected since March 12 up to 5,511.
The number of active cases decreased following the release of 67 people from the ministry’s care; 24 were discharged from public health facilities while 43 were released from home self-isolation as recovered community cases.
The released cases mean 4,085 people have recovered from the virus locally.
The total number of active cases rests at 1,321 of which 1,221 are in home self-isolation.
There remain 62 people at the hospital, 38 in step-down/ transitional facilities, and 260 in state quarantine.
