Antigua and Barbuda’s Minisister of Aviation Robin Yearwood along with his permanent secretary are presently locked in a meeting at this time with the Board of the Airport Authority, members of the Antigua Workers Union to see if they can settle an industrial dispute at the country ‘s V.C. Bird International airport.
Workers from a number of departments at the airport have down their tools following the suspension of the CEO of the airport authority and the head of the HR Department.
It is not certain whether the suspension is in relation to an industrial action embarked on by staff recently.
The ABAA staff are demanding their back pay and salary increases.
Among the departments affected are the security, baggage,the IT department, car park and operations.
Senior managers at the airport are presently manning a number of the departments that have been affected.
A number of International flights are scheduled to touch down at the airport this afternoon.
