Minister of National Security Dr Horace Chang avoided serious injuries when the vehicle he was travelling in overturned near the intersection of Shortwood and Grants Pen roads in St Andrew this morning.
While the cause of the accident is not yet known, Minister of Health Dr Christopher Tufton told OBSERVER ONLINE that Chang and his close protection officer, who were the only persons in the vehicle, were taken to the University Hospital of the West Indies following the early morning crash.
“Dr Chang was sitting in the back of the vehicle making some calls when it flipped over twice,” said Tufton.
“He has since been checked out by the doctors at the University Hospital, where he received excellent treatment, and could be released shortly,” added Tufton.
Chang was reportedly experiencing pain in his shoulders and a hand.
The close protection officer has been complaining of back and neck pains and he is still undergoing tests.
Chang was slated to leave for a meeting in Washington this morning but that trip has been postponed.
