First of two new Fire trucks arrive in Antigua and Barbuda

Two Freight liners FL80 Ferrara Fire Pumper trucks, have been purchased to further equip, Fire Officers with the tools necessary to carry out their duties effectively.

The first of the newly assigned Fire truck, arrived on island this week and the other is set to arrive within the next two weeks.

Currently, the island has five fire tenders, three placed at Coolidge, one in St. Johns and the other at Johnsons point.

Antigua and Barbuda Fire Chief Elvis Weaver said the new Freightliner Fire Pumper Truck will be stationed at St. Johns Fire Station.

Weaver noted with the recent addition all Fire stations including All Saints will have operating fire tenders on location ready to address any situation.

He added that the government has also secured three additional fire tenders out of the UK that will arrive within the next month.

The Fire Chief is happy that his department is getting the right equipment necessary for the job.

Antigua and Barbuda recorded one hundred and sixty-seven (167) total fires for this year up to present.
