The Antigua Commercial Bank has announced Joanna Charles as its new General Manager, effective October 1, 2018.
The bank says Charles is an accomplished career banker, who brings over 28 years of extensive regional banking industry experience to Antigua Commercial Bank.
In her most recent role, she held the position of Deputy Managing Director of Bank of Saint Lucia Ltd., and previously served as the General Manager of Bank of Antigua, during a critical period, in which that institution successfully transitioned, to the Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank.
Ms. Charles is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) UK, who also holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Banking & Financial Services from the University of Manchester and an MBA (Finance) from the Manchester Business School.
“She brings considerable experience in finding solutions that strengthen Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs) and embraces a culture of Customer Service Excellence,” ACB said in a statement.
Speaking of her appointment to the position of General Manager of the Antigua Commercial Bank Group, she notes, “that banking is a lot more challenging in this ever evolving industry and it is critical for Banks to be cognizant of this reality and develop strategies to manage those changes and remain sustainable at the same time”. She however welcomes the opportunity to serve the customers and staff of ACB and embraces the new challenge with optimism.
