It has been confirmed by the family of national cyclist Andre Simon that he has been discharged from the ICU.
Simon is now on a different ward where he is no longer breathing via a ventilator but has been given a tracheostomy.
Relatives are asking for no visitors at the current time due to fears of Covid contagion.
The family also confirmed yesterday on the Good Morning Jojo Sports Show that permission was given by the medical team at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre to seek medical attention abroad.
They hope Simon can travel next week. He remains under the watchful eye of hospital medics in the meantime.
Simon was one of four cyclists injured after being hit by a car on May 8. A man has since been charged with dangerous driving.
Efforts to raise funds for Simon to receive critical treatment in the US continue.
