23-year-old Jahmali Smith drowns at Pigeon Point Beach

The police are currently investigating an apparent drowning incident that took place at Pigeon Point Beach.

It was reported that around 4:20 pm on Sunday 23rd January, 23yr old Jahmali Smith of Swetes, along with other close relatives and friends apparently went to Pegion Point Beach to bathe.

It was further reported that he went into the water, and some time after he was not seen.

An immediate search was conducted in the area by the police with the assistance of the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard and the Antigua and Barbuda Search and Rescue(ABSAR).

The lifeless body of Smith was discovered floating in shallow water of the said beach around 11:23 pm.

A doctor arrived on the scene and pronounced him dead shortly after 1am on Monday.

Further investigations are ongoing.
